Homework Schedule...

Here is an overview of how homework will work from me this year:

Monday:
Science Homework Night!! Students will ALWAYS bring their Science book home this night to do some reading for me in the chapter we are currently studying. There will more than likely be a written assignment that will go along with the chapter on this night. I would say that 90% of the time we would have already read the reading assignment (or listened to it) so it won't be the first time seeing the material. It would be beneficial to reread the material so the written assignment that accompanies the reading will be sure to have correct answers!

Wednesday:
Social Studies Homework Night!! Students will ALWAYS bring their Social Studies book home this night to do some reading for me in the chapter we are currently studying. There will more than likely be a written assignment that will go along with the chapter on this night. The same goes for Social Studies...we probably would have already read or listened to the material but a revisit would help!!

A student should never have BOTH textbooks with them in their bookbag...unless a parent requires them to bring both home. Please look for that Science book on Mondays and the Social Studies book on Wednesdays.

Monday - Thursday:
Students are required to study/review KSS and DOSS for weekly quizzes.
KSS quiz is always on Friday and DOSS is always on Thursday.
The only materials they will need to bring home for these homework assignments are the binders with the COMPLETED KSS and DOSS behind their divider tabs. Some students will opt to complete these at home instead of in the morning for morning work. That is fine, but they need to be completed before we go over them on the day of the week that is above each set of problems/questions.
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT that students let me know, during KSS review time in class, about which problems they would like for me to give more examples of. Strategies and written out student work SHOULD be on the card when they arrive at home. If there are only answers...THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH! The purpose of us taking ten minutes (or more) on these problems (of the day) is so that we can discuss strategies that will help us KEEP OUR SKILLS SHARP. This will help the studying at home.

Occasionally there will be a Student Sheet from the Math Investigations unit that will go home during the week (Mon, Tues., Wed., or Thurs.) that will be directly related to the lesson we did in class. This is the only assignment that will change days according to how the students did that day in class.

The students will also have a few problems on a "Math Sheet" that will have each day of the week at the top of each box. This homework is given Monday morning and must remain in the binder so it can be pulled out each day so I can see if each student is completing it and also so we can go over the answers.

I do not assign homework over the weekend...except to rest and spend time with family and friends!
