Team Up Against Drugs!!!

We are on our 2nd day of Red Ribbon Week where we show our spirit against DRUGS!

Red Ribbon Week

Waterleaf will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week the week of October 29th.  It is a celebration of a drug-free lifestyle. Students enjoy participating in spirit activities each day throughout the week and this helps raise their awareness that they can choose not to use drugs. Below are the themes for each day:

• Monday, October 29th "Good Character, Good Choice!"  - Wear Red Clothing
• Tuesday, October 30th "Team-Up Against Violence and Drugs" -  Wear your favorite team jersey or colors
• Wednesday, October 31st "Book Character Parade"  - Dress as your favorite book character
• Thursday, November 1st "Follow Your Dreams, Don't Do Drugs!" - Wear Pajamas
• Friday, November 2nd "F.A.C.E (Fitness and Character Education) - Wear School Shirt or School Colors

K-2 Math Night is Tuesday, October 23rd!

All of the K-2 teachers hope you will attend the K-2 Math night this coming Tuesday from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. We will showcase three math games that we play in the classroom to help with math fluency and number sense. It is our goal to provide all of the families with fun ideas to reinforce math at home.

This morning I played one of the games with my daughter, Avarie, who is a Kindergartener in Ms. Bua's class! She really enjoyed playing and wanted to keep going because, "It was so fun!"

~Dads and Donuts FUN!~

WOW! We had such a wonderful turnout with our parents today! It is always so exciting to see the parents of our students after we get to know them so well. The morning started off with our dads, grandpas, and even moms and grandmothers enjoying some donuts and coffee at the cafeteria. The class anticipated their arrival and welcomed each of them with a hello. After the introductions. Sean's dad volunteered to read the story, "Mr. Scarecrow's Hat," to the class. Finally, the class worked with all the parents on cute scarecrows as they learned why scarecrows are usually heard about in the fall season because of the harvest. Dads and Donuts!

We are so excited to enjoy a morning with the dads of our 1st grade classroom this Friday from 8:30 to 9:30!  It will be a fun morning filled with a cute fall literacy activity and read aloud. As always, our parent support is what really makes our school and class very successful!  Thank you so much for planning on attending...see you soon!!
